I’m here with another Meet the Blogger! Today I will be doing a Q&A with Julia, the owner of Fable Hunter. So here it is!
Tell us a bit about yourself?
J: I never really know how to answer these kinds of questions. I guess I’ll start with the basics – my name is Julia, I’m 18 years old and entering college with the intent to get my Masters in Biology. I’m an avid reader, writer and explorer. I thirst for adventure, and challenge myself constantly. I consider myself a dog person, but currently have a pet cat who enjoys cuddles, and walking on my laptop when I’m working.
How did you get into book blogging?
J: I had been toying around with the idea of starting a blog for several years. I started a personal one, but was never sure what to write. I spent hours staring at a screen, desperately trying to find some topic to discuss. I slowly began to give up on ever running a blog, or even writing, and instead took to focusing on my academics. However, the idea began to wiggle its way back into my brain, and one day after discovering a few book blogs, it hit me like a bag of bricks – what better subject to write about than books? I have always loved reading and sharing my opinions. Thus began my foray into the book blogging world, and I haven’t looked back since.
What is your favourite thing about your blog?
J: My favorite thing about my blog would be the freedom to express myself and the community. I love the creativity and ability to share my thoughts and have found such an accepting and supportive community in which to do so. It has made my journey into blogging an absolute joy.
Have you been inspired to blog by another blogger and/or Youtuber?
J: Everyone who blogs and Youtubes is fabulous and an inspiration in their own right. The person who inspired me first though would be C.G. Drews, who runs a book blog at Paper Fury. Paper Fury was the first book blog I ever stumbled upon, and her quirky sense of humor and blog topics helped to inspire me to begin my own blog.
How do you decide what blog posts to do next?
J: I’m currently still figuring out an organization system. I try not to do the same kind of post twice, I want to keep my blog balanced and interesting. It’s also just dependent on my mood and what I feel like writing in the moment.
Do you look at other blogs to get inspiration for the content of your blog?
Y: Yes, and no. Sometimes I find tags or memes that I think look really fun, and get book recommendations (my TBR list is starting to look monstrous) from fellow bloggers, but I also try really hard to come up with my own ideas and content.
Where would you like to see your blog at the end of this year?
J: I would like to see my blog flourish by the end of the year. I’d love to do a lot more book reviews and discussion posts and become more integrated with the book blogging community. I hope to inspire someone as I had been inspired.
If you could meet one author who would it be?
J: I would love to meet J.K. Rowling. Harry Potter was the first book to ever get me interested in reading and was one of my favorite series growing up. She seems like a very lovely person and I would love to meet the person who created such a magical series.
What are your 3 top genres to read?
J: My top three genres to read would be fantasy, YA fiction, and mystery.
What book are you most excited about reading next?
J: The book I am most excited about reading next is A Court of Thorns and Roses. I had been nervous about picking it up because of how much hype it’s been getting, but now that I’m planning to read it, I’m starting to feel excited that I might find a new series to fall in love with.
What is the most recent favourite book you’ve read?
J: The most recent favorite book I’ve read is Turtles All the Way Down by John Green. This was another book that I hadn’t planned to read or even thought I would like, but once I got into it I couldn’t put it down.
Do you have any hobbies outside of blogging/reading?
J: I have a lot of different hobbies. My main ones would be travelling and hiking, bike riding, backpacking, baking, crocheting, writing and playing video games. I really want to take up rock climbing here soon! I’ve also dabbled in archery, painting, yoga, and a variety of other things.
That is the end of my Q&A with Julia from Fable Hunter. Thank you to Julia for participating in this Q&A. It was very fun to do. Also, check out her blog, it looks amazing.
