Every month has a stone. Every stone is precious to everyone. Every month is special to everyone based on their birthday. Birthstones can either be something someone has to be wearing to signify what month they were born in, but not everyone is like that. Each stone can be associated with a lot of things. So based on what each stone is associated with, a book tag was born from it. So let’s get ready and get your gems at the ready…
January – Garnet (associated with warding off negative forces and dark energies): Name a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of
Amy: Black Jack Randell from Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. He was such a d***. Like ugh, he was so much worse seeing him in the TV show than how he was in the book!
Lara: Prisoner of Night and Fog by Anne Blankman, well the book had Hitler in it… So I’ll pick this one.
February – Amethyst (purple is associated with royalty): Name a book with regal qualities… You can base this off of characters or choose the KING of all books
Amy: The Falconer by Elizabeth May
Lara: The Outsiders by S.E. Hilton.
March – Aquamarine (washed out): Name a ‘wish washy’ character, a character who is not strong or a follower
Amy: Derek from The Falconer by Elizabeth May. I love him so much aha
Lara: Yong from Alive by Scott Sigler.
April – Diamond (a diamond in a rough): Name a book that you loved but it is not well known
Amy: The Girl in Between by Laekan Zea Kemp.
Lara: Drown by Esther Dalseno.
May – Emerald (said to balance energy): Name two characters who balance each other well
Amy: Beatrice and Giovanni from A Hidden Fire by Elizabeth Hunter. There are literally opposites in this book haha
Lara: Kaz Brekker & Inej from Crooked Kingdom.
June – Pearl (associated with loyalty): Name a character who is loyal to the end
Amy: David from The Forsaken Series by Lisa M Strasse. I will always remember him for that
Lara: Simon Lewis from The Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare.
July – Ruby (blood red): Name a book that made your blood boil, one that made you angry
Amy: The Elite by Kiera Cass. Just everything about that book just made me want to throw it around the room.
Lara: Allegiant by Veronica Roth, just what the heck was that ending!?
August – Peridot (pale green): Name a supporting character who you like better than the main character
Amy: I love Ben and Carwyn from The Elemental Mysteries Series by Elizabeth Hunter. Even thought Gio is amazing, I just find that they are so much fun and always makes me laugh.
Lara: I definitely loved Marlee Tames from The Selection (Kiera Cass) more than I liked America Singer.
September –Â Sapphire (blue like the ocean which is calming): Name a book that had a calming effect on you
Amy: Die for Me by Amy Plum. Always my go-to book when I’m in a reading slump.
Lara: I know that this will be a weird pick but Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver had a calming effect on me.
October – Opal (iridescent): Name an iridescent book, Â this can be a book with a beautiful cover (shiny? lots of colour?) or you can base it off of a character within the book (quirky? colourful?)
Amy: Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor. That book just speaks BEAUTIFUL!Â
Lara: The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon has a pretty cool cover.
November – Topaz (associated with resilience): Name a book with a character who rises to the top in a time of adversity
Amy: Em from The Generations Trilogy by Scott Sigler.
Lara: Cinder from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer.
December – Blue Zircon (associated with friendships): Name a book with a friendship you want to be apart of
