I’m here with another Meet the Blogger! Today I will be doing a Q&A with Chloe, the owner of Book Dragons. So here it is!
C: *sipBookss tea* Hey I’m Clo, a teen book blogger over at Book Dragons. I’m usually found drinking tea whilst reading, writing blog posts and I’m fluent in sarcasm. Paranormal books have my whole heart, my favourite series being Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill. I love writing and reading discussion posts, there’s just something about being able to share my opinion with others and learn from theirs as well.
How did you get into book blogging?
C: I found Cait’s twitter first then stumbled onto her blog. The sarcasm, blog posts just everything really struck a chord with me at the time. I wasn’t in the best of places mindset wise, due to personal stuff but I’d always known I wanted to talk about books more. I had so much to say and still do, on bookish topics on other topics. I also wanted to learn from others, we have the internet so we may as well use it to help understand other readers, what their experiences are like.
Mostly though, I wanted another outlet to talk about books, to hopefully find some friends I could chat with about books and blogging.
What is your favourite thing about your blog?
C: If I say nothing will you all hurt me? *hides behind a pillow*
I think honestly my favourite thing about my blog is how it’s allowed to me grow as a person, as a reader and writer. With every post, I learn something new, whether it’s through people’s comments or from writing the post. Being able to connect with readers and bloggers from across the world, is my favourite thing. New friends, learning new things and understanding about readers situations across the globe.
Have you been inspired to blog by another blogger and/or Youtuber?
C: I mentioned it earlier but Cait from Paper Fury basically inspired me to create my blog, so thank you Cait, my blog has given me so much joy, made me want to scream myself into a new dimension but through it I’ve made so many friends which probably wouldn’t have happened if I hadn’t stumbled upon your twitter and blog.
How do you decide what blog posts to do next?
C: Anyone who knows me knows I like schedules, plans and am usually planning a month ahead or at least a few weeks ahead. Using my plan I input first any Novel Newcomers posts for the month so they’re done, then I’ll throw in any collab posts I’ve got/are planning and from there I add in book tags, discussions and so on. All of this is done in my bullet journal by the way, so I pencil in posts first which means I can move them about if I change my mind.
Do you look at other blogs to get inspiration for the content of your blog?
C: All. The. Time. Honestly, blog hopping is a huge source of inspiration for me, some posts inspire me to write my own take on a topic. If a post has inspired me in some way, 9/10 times I’ll remember to link back which I will then credit the inspiration source. Taking inspiration from blog posts is fine, as long as you credit in my opinion, I always get a fuzzy feeling if someone’s linked back to a post saying they got inspired etc. Plagiarism is a big no-no.
If you could have given yourself advice to yourself before you started blogging, what would have that advice been?
C: It looks complicated, it is complicated but the community will be there to help you through the complex things.
If you could meet one author who would it be?
C: Chloe Neill hands down. I have been lucky enough to meet several authors already, but I would love to meet Chloe Neill one day and get my books signed by her. I ADORE all her books and will forever shriek about them.
What are your 3 top genres to read?
C: Paranormal, Contemporary aaaaand Fantasy. Paranormal has always been a favourite genre of mine but contemporary has slowly worked its way to be a close second.
What book are you most excited about reading next?
C: I’d just like to read honestly, cause I’ve been in a slump since Aug 2018 basically I love my motivation to read and find excitement in sitting down and reading. BUT I am so excited to eventually read the rest of The Problem With Forever by Jennifer L Armentrout, I also can’t wait to get my teeth into Wild Hunger by Chloe Neill. Warning…don’t look at Wild Hunger on Goodreads if you want to read the Chicagoland Vampire series as it’s a spin-off. It also spoils the ending of the series.
What is the most recent favourite book you’ve read?
C: Ooooooo the one which comes to mind is Seven Days of You may be because I adored the romance and how it was set in Tokyo. I just loved this book.
Do you have any hobbies outside of blogging/reading?
C: Art/graphics I suppose count haha, I do want to get better at both. I also write, not just stories but also poetry and lyrics. Oh, I have a guitar, I can play like 3 chords but one day I’ll learn how to play it properly.
That is the end of my Q&A with Chloe from BookDragons. Thank you to Chloe for participating in this Q&A. It was very fun to do. Also, check out her blog, it looks amazing.
