I’m here with another Meet the Blogger! Today I will be doing a Q&A with Kaleena, the owner of Reader Voracious. So here it is!
Tell us a bit about yourself?
K: I am a 30-something-year-old California girl that loves the outdoors and a good book. I am a lifelong devourer of books and stories, starting from an obsession with Egyptian and Greek mythology that developed into a love of the classics. My degree is in Religious Studies and my academic interests were focused on South Asian religion and philosophy/theory of religion… which is interesting because I used to HATE philosophy and now choose to read it for fun. (Who am I?!) Now I work in fundraising in Higher Education.
How did you get into book blogging?
K: I have honestly been passively thinking about it for ages, but started really considering it late 2017 when I started to read more to de-stress and reviewing on Goodreads. I decided in January that I wanted to have a more formal space to share my thoughts and passions, so I created my blog initially on Blogspot. I decided to move to WordPress at the beginning of March and started connecting with other readers!
What is your favourite thing about your blog?
K: Definitely the community! That was the main reason I decided to create my blog; I wanted to create a space and community of readers and I absolutely love sharing ideas and recommendations with others.
Have you been inspired to blog by another blogger and/or Youtuber?
K: No.
How do you decide what blog posts to do next?
K: I am still trying to figure it out, but I just settled on my formal blogging schedule last week with a rough idea of what I want to post. Even though I read a lot of books and review each of them on Goodreads, I don’t necessarily want my blog to just be 7 reviews a week, and I want to do more than just memes as well. Right now I have settled on one review, one meme that I am beginning on May 6, a discussion post or words & screen analysis, and one freebie like a tag/blog tour/award. I try to publish my ARC reviews without two weeks of publication and prioritize them by date
Do you look at other blogs to get inspiration for the content of your blog?
K: Not directly, but I do find inspiration when I catch up on my subscriptions.
Where would you like to see your blog at the end of this year?
K: A nice little bookish community! My goal is to have engaged discussions, and hopefully down the road a book club of some kind that I can host here.
If you could meet one author who would it be?
K: Kurt Vonnegut, but since he has passed away I will say, Christopher Moore.
What are your 3 top genres to read?
K: Science fiction/speculative fiction, fantasy, satire
What book are you most excited about reading next?
K: To Kill a Kingdom by Alexandra Christo
What is the most recent favourite book you’ve read?
K: Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi is my favorite book that I have read this year so far.
Do you have any hobbies outside of blogging/reading?
K: I love hiking, backpacking, travel. I am an on-again-off-again runner and also love to cook. I am passionate about philanthropy and giving back to the community, and volunteer in my spare time. I have delusions of maybe writing short stories one day, but despite having a bunch of ideas I am far too lazy at this point.
That is the end of my Q&A with Keleena from Reader Voracious. Thank you to Kaleena for participating in this Q&A. It was very fun to do. Also, check out her blog, it looks amazing.
