“Man cannot be freed by the same injustice that enslaved it.” – Red Rising by Pierce Brown
”Pierce Brown’s relentlessly entertaining debut channels the excitement of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card.”
It has been a while since I have read a dystopian written as good as Red Rising. It had the Hunger Games vibes from time to time but overall the story was unique and I loved loved loved it!
I liked Darrow, he is a good person. He wouldn’t even bother with a rebellion if it wasn’t for his lost love, he was happy the way he was living even though his life was no better than a slave’s. I really liked this about him because he was happy with what he had.
“I would have lived in peace. But my enemies brought me war.”
Even though I understand the thing behind Eo‘s sacrifice, I still think that she could have done better. I can already guess what her second surprise was, but I really hope that I am wrong because even the thought of it hurts me.
I really liked Mustang, Roque, Pax, and even Cassius at times but hands down my favorite character in this whole book are SEVRO.
Oh man here I am again developing awkward crushes on the weirdest people but what can I do? Sevro is just *sighs*…
“ ‘I killed their pack leader,’ Sevro says when I ask why the wolves follow him. He looks me up and down and flashes me an impish grin from beneath the wolf pelt. ‘Don’t worry, I wouldn’t fit in your skin.’ ”
Isn’t he so cute? Right? I also loved the whole wolf and howler concept, it was very creative. Overall I’m all over here as Sevro trash and I can’t wait to dive into the Golden Son. I feel like this series will be epic!
