I’m here with another Meet the Blogger! Today I will be doing a Q&A with Amy, the owner of The Lit Place. So here it is!
Tell us a bit about yourself?
A: Well I am 36 and from the UK. I don’t have any children or pets at the moment but every day I am leaning towards the idea of adopting a fluffy friend. I live with my partner and we became engaged in January while on a trip to Barcelona. We are planning on getting married this October, but don’t ask me how the plans are going because we are totally winging it! I have two sisters and a brother and I also have two wonderful nieces and a gorgeous nephew. I’m an avid reader but I also like to keep up to date with TV series and can never turn down socialising with friends.
How did you get into book blogging?
A: I completed a degree in English Literature through the Open University a couple of years ago and since then have felt a bit despondent and have really missed writing about the books I read, so I finally decided that I would keep doing it and use a blog as my platform. It has filled such a big hole for me.
What is your favourite thing about your blog?
A: My favourite thing so far has got to be all of the other amazing bloggers that I have found through Twitter, it is an amazing community and I am just loving being a part of it.
Have you been inspired to blog by another blogger and/or Youtuber?
A: No, my motivation was really just wanting to get out all of my thoughts on the books I read and I was not really into blogs beforehand I just sort of stumbled across the idea of starting one. Having said that since I have started I have found loads of really inspirational blogs that are inspiring me to try to do better all of the time and keep upping my game!
How do you decide what blog posts to do next?
A: This is mainly based on what I’m reading at the time, but not every book that I read inspires me to write afterwards, so luckily I have a huge collection of classics that I could talk about endlessly for when my newer books are not giving me the ‘blog post worthy’ feeling
Do you look at other blogs to get inspiration for the content of your blog?
A: I have been following lots of blogs recently, all really interesting and well written. I have a plan to look through them and decide what the best bits are, the bits that really stand out to me and then I will try to concentrate on those parts of my own blog to try to make them better.
Where would you like to see your blog at the end of this year?
A: Hmmm, I would really like to see it grow in followers and keep getting the kind of lovely comments I have been getting so far. I would also like it if personally, I could actually learn what Widgets really are and make better use of them. I would like by the end of the year for the appearance of my blog to be exactly how I want it, and for it to be a pleasant experience for people who look at it. That is my main focus for this year.
If you could meet one author who would it be?
A: Probably George RR Martin so I could tell him off, I think that most people feel that way!
What are your 3 top genres to read?
A: Thriller or Suspense, then Classics and also a bit of Fantasy
What book are you most excited about reading next?
A: M R Carey has not let me down yet with The Girl with all the Gifts and Fellside, I have The Boy on the Bridge to read soon and I am very excited about it. Definitely one of my favourite authors.
What is the most recent favourite book you’ve read?
A: I’m reading a really good crime/thriller at the moment called The Crow Girl by Erik Axl Sund, it is so interesting I am finding it hard to put it down. I also really like books that are set in unfamiliar places to me, this is set in Sweden and is very descriptive. I would say though that there is some quite upsetting content in this book so it would not be suitable for everyone but it is a real page-turner.
Do you have any hobbies outside of blogging/reading?
A: Blogging is a very new hobby for me, but one I am enjoying immensely. Other than that and reading I like watching series on Netflix and I love cooking, not so much baking as I am rubbish at cakes but cooking meals and trying new recipes is fun. I also do a bit of crafting now and then, making things for the house or for friends and family and I like walking and spending time with my favourite people.
That is the end of my Q&A with Amy from The Lit Place. Thank you to Amy for participating in this Q&A. It was very fun to do. Also, check out her blog, it looks amazing.

Great interview! I’ve only read one George RR Martin book, so I’m intrigued about the reasons for telling him off 😊

Such a great idea to get to know other bloggers! I can certainly relate to not writing about what I’ve read after graduating and missing it. Great post!

Totally agree with the comment of George R.R. Martin!! He should take a hint from J.K. Rowling. Successful and STILL WRITING. At least finish the series, dude.
