I keep seeing so many book bloggers do this tag and it has honestly made me want to redo this tag for the second time. I love this tag. I can honestly say this is one tag I know I’ll be doing over the next few years when blogging. From the name to the questions, it’s a brilliant tag. So let’s do the Mid Year Freak Out book tag again!
1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2018
If I had to choose just one, I would have to say Malice by John Gwynne. It was such an amazing read and I love the way the series is going! People should check it out!
2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2018
I would say King of Thorns by Mark Lawrence was a really really good sequel to Prince of Thorns. The world within this series is just amazing and honestly, I love the main character in this series. He’s just so twisted, it’s brilliant.Â
3. New release you haven’t read yet but want to
State of Sorrow by Melinda Salisbury. I have no idea but this book is just being pushed down my TBR each passing day. I will get this book this year, hopefully….
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas. I literally need this in my life.Â
5. Biggest disappointed
Definitely, The Pharmacist’s Wife by Vanessa Tait. After reading the blurb the book sounded amazing! Yet I have no idea what happened to it. There will be a review going about this book going up in the next few weeks so you’ll see why this was a disappointment in that.
6. Biggest surprise
For this one, I would have to say Eon by Alison Goodman. Even though this book had long ass chapters where there was LITERALLY no point in, it was still a really good read. I hope to get the sequel but have no idea when I will.Â
7. Favourite new author (Debut or new to you)
John Gwynne! I haven’t read anything by him before this year now I just want more books written by him. *hint hint*
8. Newest fictional crush
Don’t think I have any this time around.Â
9. Newest favourite character
Rin from The Poppy War by R. F Kuang. I absolutely love her. She is so badass and she fights for everything she wants. I can’t wait to see how she is in the rest of the books in the series.Â
10. Book that made you cry
Warrior Witch by Danielle L. Jensen. That book honestly killed me. I can’t wait to see how I am when I read The Broken Ones. Even the title makes me think how broken I might be once I finish it.Â
11. A book that made you happy
Yea I’m just going to say Warrior Witch by Danielle L. Jensen again because this book just gave me the FEELS. Even though it made me cry it still made me so happy in the end. I need more within this series. I was it was only possible.Â
12. Favourite book to film adaptation you saw this year
Altered Carbon! I keep going on and on about this series to EVERYONE! I love this TV Show so much. I wish I read the book before I watched it though. Oh well, time to buy the book next.Â
13. Favourite review you’ve written this year
I think The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton. I loved this book and it was such a nice book to review.Â
14. The most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)
For a book I have read, I would say The City of Brass by S. A. Chakraborty. I love this book. The story is so magical and the cover is absolutely gorgeous.
For a book I have yet to read, I would say The Queen’s of Innis Lear by Tessa Gratton. The cover is what drew the book to me and I really hope the story is worth it.
15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year
Okay, this will be a list of books for unread not rereads because if I include rereads, it will most likely double the list aha.
- The Fallen Kingdom by Elizabeth May
- Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J. Maas
- Armada by Ernest Cline
- Ruin by John Gwynne
- Wrath by John Gwynne
- Tarnished City by Vic James
- Calamity by Brandon Sanderson
- Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
- The Alloy of Law by Brandon Sanderson
- The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson
I honestly can’t believe the first 6 months of 2017 are already over. Only 6 more months then we will be saying hello to 2018. What will the next 6 months of reading bring? Make sure you keep visiting this blog to check out what I get up to within those 6 months!
Till then readers!

I struggle to read a book too soon after I’ve watched it so I picked up the second book from the altered carbon series after loving the show! I’ll be interested to hear if the tv show varied much from the first book?
