I’m here with another Meet the Blogger! Today I will be doing a Q&A with Asten, the owner of Wonderlandians Books. So here it is!
Tell us a bit about yourself?
A: I am a 26-year-old woman and I am obsessed with unicorns and mermaids. If anybody tries to tell me that they don’t exist I swear I will fight them. Just kidding more like drop my jaw and try to expel the demons that are clearly in our system. I blog about books. Books have gotten me through some really hard times in my life so I figured why not share my love of books and hopefully they’ll make somebody else’s day better.
How did you get into book blogging?
A: This is not my first time having a Blog. I tried starting a blog back in 2012 that was for books. Unfortunately, that did not go well and I think I abandoned that blog within the same month of starting it. Then I tried again 2 years later in 2014 I think I had about 3 different blogs that year. Honestly, none of them really felt right and so I tried my hand at booktubing. My channel is still up today I try to post occasionally but it’s mostly blogging nowadays. It’s just my name Ashten Healy. Back in December of 2017, I thought I would give my hand at blogging again and this time around it’s been super successful. I’ve been running my blog for about 4 months and I’m absolutely obsessed with my blog.
What is your favourite thing about your blog?
A: One of my favorite things about blogging is that it’s like a natural stress reliever for me. I have an obsessive-compulsive disorder as well as depression so there are times in my life where I really need an escape and books have brought me that and I had found another way to escape. Running a Blog has put me on a very strict schedule typically I don’t run on the schedule so I have created themes for every day of the week so every single day I try to post something.
Have you been inspired to blog by another blogger and/or Youtuber?
A: I had been on YouTube as a book reviewer for four years before I decided to start walking. Setting up a camera doing my makeup putting on the right clothes and being in front of the camera and then spending three hours at a thing of the video really wasn’t doing it for me anymore. so I turned to the blogging world. The very first Walker that I found and consistently read every one of their posts is Paper Fury. I absolutely love her blog.
How do you decide what blog posts to do next?
A: This is a really good question so for every day of the week I try to do a theme. So every Monday I’ve got Monday madness, Tuesday tag Tuesday, Wednesday what I’m reading Wednesday and soon I’m going to be adding a writing Wednesday, Thursday I’ve got top three Thursday, and Friday I got free Friday. Free Friday is probably one of my favorite days to blog because that day I am doing the post completely dedicated to a free book on Amazon typically it’s one that I’ve read because one of my favorite things to do is to find free books on Amazon and then spread the word about the Indie author. Saturdays and Sundays when it comes to my blog I try To do a book review on Saturday and then some days are all about my writing project period over this last month oh I’ve been a little bit more relaxed I’m not posting everyday and kind of posting what I want to post. While still trying to stick to the theme.
Do you look at other blogs to get inspiration for the content of your blog?
A: All the time. Mostly when I’m trying to gain inspiration it is for my tag Tuesday or my top 3 Thursday. If there’s a certain topic that I find on a Blog that I really like and want to Give my opinion on then I will link the blogger’s original post and it’s kind of like a response to theirs. One of my favorite things is to just start a dialogue with my followers.
Where would you like to see your blog at the end of this year?
A: This is a really good question. I would love to see my blog grow. I love talking about books with other people and in my day-to-day life, there aren’t a lot of people that I can talk to about books. so I ultimately would love to see my content get better and just see my little blogging family grow. I would also love to inspire others to start blogging.
If you could meet one author who would it be?
A: One author I would love to meet is Richelle Mead. I am obsessed with her books. I love her book series Vampire Academy. I remember just coming off the Twilight craze and I remember being on Facebook one day and seeing an ad for the books and I added them to my Christmas list and I got the first for which at the time or the only ones out. I remember thinking oh God what did I do. What if I don’t like the first book. Luckily I was able to get into the book after the first sentence.
What are your 3 top genres to read?
A: Young adults, new adults, adults Romance erotica
What book are you most excited about reading next?
A: I recently got the first three books in the school of Good and Evil series so I’m really excited to get to those at some point.
What is the most recent favourite book you’ve read?
A: There have been a lot of really good books that I’ve read recently but I wouldn’t say they made my top 10 list of favorite books. So I’m going to name one that I found last year that was super inspiring to me and that was Lily Collins book. I had read the book around this time last year and honestly, I have to say that it’s become one of my favorite go-to reads when I’m feeling down.
Do you have any hobbies outside of blogging/reading?
A: This may seem like a super generic answer but I love to write. I have loved to write since I was a little girl. One non-book or writing Lee the thing is I love photography. I do photography as a side job. And ever since I was a little kid I’ve been obsessed with figure skating I was a competitive figure skater when I was a kid. And I used to teach figure skating. Unfortunately, with my work schedule, I had to stop teaching skating so I try to get on the ice whenever I can.
That is the end of my Q&A with Asten from Wonderlandians Books. Thank you to Asten for participating in this Q&A. It was very fun to do. Also, check out her blog, it looks amazing.
