How it is already halfway through 2017 I honestly don’t know. I still remember when it was January, I was thinking about how slow and painful this year will be. But honestly, the past 6 months has just flown by. We found tag over on YouTube and it was just the most perfect tag to do during this time.
In this tag, we look at all of the books we have read in the first 6 months of the year and we see which of the books can relate to the 15 questions. I have no idea who created this tag but this tag is just amazing. Â So let’s get ready with this tag.Â
- Best book you’ve read so far in 2017
Amy: I can’t think I can narrow it down to one book so I have to say top 3 so far. These are Half the World by Joe Abercrombie, The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss and Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones.Â
Lara: A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas.
2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2017
Amy: Alone by Scott Sigler, best conclusion to a trilogy I’ve read all year.
Lara: A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir.
3. New release you haven’t read yet, but want to
Amy: A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas and Fallen Kingdom by Elizabeth May. The need to read both of these books is so high. I honestly just want to read these ASAP. I have one but not the other, I need the other one.Â
Lara: I really want to get to Wayfarer by. Alexandra Bracken even though it was published back in January.
4. Most anticipated release for the second half of the year
Amy: Godsgrave by Jay Kristoff and Tower of Dawn by Sarah J. Maas. Both big titles that are published in September and I need them now. Just waiting for September to come now….
Lara: I can’t really think of a book atm, this has been a really busy year for me (made it hard to read or add books to my tbr)
5. Biggest disappointed
Amy: The Alchemists of Loom by Elise Kova. I thought this would be a lot better than how it was.Â
Lara: The Manifesto on How to be Interesting by Holly Bourne. Never have I ever got disgusted by a book that much.
6. Biggest surprise
Amy: A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab. I didn’t think I would enjoy or like this one, but I really enjoyed the it. I can see why this is on everyone’s favourite series list.
Lara: I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson. Oh boy, I LOVED that book.
7. Favourite new author (Debut or new to you)
Amy: This has been a really good year for me finding new high fantasy authors and all of them are my new favourite ones. These are Patrick Rothfuss, Mark Lawrence and Joe Abercrombie.Â
Lara: Morgan Matson. I now know why she is such a big deal in the book community. (Read Since You’ve Been Gone)
8. Newest fictional crush
Amy: BRAND!! I LOVE him! Brand is from the Shattered Sea Series by Joe Abercrombie. He is my precious cinnamon roll!
Lara: Probably every single Blackthorn atm. Ty Blackthorn though <3
9. Newest favourite character
Amy: Thorn from The Shattered Sea Series by Joe Abercrombie. She is just so badass!
Lara: Helene from A Torch Against the Night by Sabaa Tahir.
10. Book that made you cry
Amy: Hahaha none. I don’t cry. EVER.
Lara: Um, almost every book I’ve read so far.
11. Book that made you happy
Amy: The Changelings Journey by Christine Spoors. This book was just so cute and had an amazing ending!
Lara: The Sun is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon.
12. Favourite book to film adaptation you saw this year
Amy: American Gods, iZombie and 13 Reasons Why. American Gods is such a messed up TV Show but its so amazing. 13 Reasons Why was just emotional and so heartbreaking to watch. iZombie is AMAZING! I love all of the characters and I feel so sad that the comics aren’t as funny and good as the TV adaptation. I really can’t wait to see how American Gods and 13 Reasons Why carry on in Season 2 and with what happened in iZombie Season 3!! I can’t get over it. Recommend these TV shows to everyone!!
Lara: Riverdale (based on Archie Comics), 13 Reason Why.
13. Favourite review you’ve written this year
Amy: For the review to come I will have the say The Changeling’s Journey by Christine Spoors. Just looking at the notes I have made for this book just makes me so excited for your readers to read it. But for the one that is currently published, I would have to say The Falconer review. If you would like the read it click here.
Lara: I sadly haven’t written any proper reviews this year.
14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far this year (or received)
Amy: Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor, Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones and Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen.
Lara: I really like the cover of A Thousand Nights by E. K. Johnston.
15. What books do you need to read by the end of the year
Amy: A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas, Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard, Shadow of Night by Deborah Harkness and Fallen Kingdom by Elizabeth May.Â
Lara: I really want to re-read The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
