I’m here with another Meet the Blogger! Today I will be doing a Q&A with Sam, the owner of Fictionally Sam. So here it is!
Introduce Yourself!
S: The name is Sam and I am a 23-year-old (soon to be 24 in like a month and a half, so let’s just round up and say 24) storyteller from the good ol’ state of Texas. A graduate from University with a degree in Theatre and Film Performance, I am deeply passionate about the magic of storytelling and the different platforms and mediums that can be used to dispense it’s magic!
How did you get into book blogging?
S: I got into book blogging a little backwards than most. I had followed a few book blogs throughout my teens years but never felt like I was super qualified to you know…do one. So instead, back in 2015 while in University I started a BookTube channel, because at that moment I was studying film and learning cinematography so I felt like I was more comfortable in front and behind the camera and sharing that then sharing my writing (which I’ve been doing since I was apart of the itty bitty committee).
However, after three years of being on the tube, I found myself in a spot where I could no longer go on doing BookTube but I still wanted to talk to people about my love of storytelling through the books, films, and shows I consume–so in 2018 I took the plunge and branched over to book blogging, and I’ve been in love ever since!
What is your favourite thing about your blog?
S: My favorite thing about my blog…hmmm. Apart from it being mine and the freedom that comes along with that, I think my favorite thing would be making new friends. I feel like everyone says that, but it is true! I honestly love meeting new book lovers whether they are bloggers or not, and talking about books and other random things with them! It’s like finding a second family and every day you get to meet a new family member.
Have you been inspired to blog by another blogger and/or Youtuber?
S: I am inspired by so many different things, so it’s hard to pinpoint an exact person/place that pushed me to take the plunge, but I honestly don’t think that any one person did. I knew very little if anything about this portion of the book community when I first began, however as I said before, it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made and I have been in love ever since!
How do you decide what blog posts to do next?
S: I am a planner at heart. I love things organized, planned and scheduled. So how I typically go about deciding what I am going to post next is based off my schedule–At the end of every month, I sit down and I look at the list of books I need to review (whether that be for review obligations or from fun reading) and I write down when I will be reviewing what first, after that it’s kind of free reign from there! I just stick into the schedule things I think would be fun to post about or things I am really interested in. As the month goes on, I become super flexible with those type of posts that aren’t time sensitive/have a deadline so I usually go with what I am in the mood to write at that time!
Do you look at other blogs to get inspiration for the content of your blog?
S: I believe inspiration is everywhere, all you have to do is be open to it! But sometimes yes I like to waddle to different blogs and gain inspiration from them!
If you could have given yourself advice to yourself before you started blogging, what would have that advice been?
S: Don’t worry what others will think. I think that would be the biggest advice I could have given myself. It took me a while to fully learn that my portion of the internet is my own and I can talk about anything and everything that I want too. Some will like it and some won’t, and that is okay–but as long as you are passionate about the things you talk about, what everyone else thinks won’t matter.
Just do you!
If you could meet one author who would it be?
S: Oh god, you really had to ask me THE hardest question next to the dreaded “what’s your favorite book?” ??? Ummm, I think if I could only meet one author, it would have to be Sarah J Maas (I know I am shocked that it isn’t Stephenie Meyer too) solely because her work is so complex and intricate that I would love to sit down with her and just talk about her writing process and how she is the genius that she is.
What are your 3 top genres to read?
S: Romance, Science Fiction, and Fantasy!
What book are you most excited about reading next?
S: Currently my most anticipated read is Aurora Rising by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff! I literally cannot wait to get my grubby little hands on that stroke of genius!
What is the most recent favourite book you’ve read?
S: I think my most favorite book that I’ve read this year so far is This Cruel Design by Emily Suvada. A 10/10 would recommend story!
Do you have any hobbies outside of blogging/reading?
S: I absolutely adore writing, hiking, and binging my favorite films and TV shows. I have been known delve into the world of baking and cooking, and love trying different things that I see on the Food Channel, in which I like to pretend that I could totally beat Bobby Flay. I am super passionate about the arts and storytelling so in my spare time on the weekends and evenings when I get the chance I work as an actor and stage manager for different plays and performances; I also have a deep connection with Bob Ross and so if I’m not at my local theatre, you can find me waddling around at home painting while mumbling the great words of Bob Ross as my mom looks at me in bewilderment of where she went wrong (or right 😉).
That is the end of my Q&A with Sam from Fictionally Sam. Thank you to Sam for participating in this Q&A. It was very fun to do. Also, check out her blog, it looks amazing.
If you are a book blogger that would like to take part in this post. Please email me over on hello@lbninthecorner.co.uk.

I love learning more about my book blogging friends and this time was no exception. Sam is adorable and I just want to buy her all the motivational Bob Ross posters and cute baking things. I definitely agree making friends has certainly been the best part for me so far!
