I’m here with another Meet the Blogger! Today I will be doing a Q&A with Erica, the owner of Erica Robyn Reads. So here it is!
Tell us a bit about yourself?
E: My name is Erica, I’m 27 years old, and I live in New Hampshire, USA. I’m a stereotypical Hufflepuff, and I almost always have a cup of tea nearby. I’m currently working one full-time job, one part-time job, and on the side, I do photography work and keep up with my book blog. On top of all that, I’m also planning my wedding that is coming right up in September of this year! Phew!
How did you get into book blogging?
E: I’m still a bit of a newbie to the book blogging world. Just five years ago, I started reviewing books on Goodreads. Before then, I would just give books star ratings. For a few months, I started “blogging” on Books & Writing Amino. When I realized how much time I was putting into those posts, I decided to create a web-based blog. So in late December 2017, I finally started my own blog!
What is your favourite thing about your blog?
E: I really love engaging with other readers. I have a few friends that read, but we don’t really chat about books, or we live too far apart to have reading nights. So having an awesome online community is really wonderful!
Have you been inspired to blog by another blogger and/or Youtuber?
E: Definitely! When I first became aware of the online bookish community, I had a ton of favorite Youtubers. Of course, over time, my personal tastes have changed, but I still follow quite a few. But it was only when I started blogging that I really dove into the book blogging community. Now I have too many favorites to count!
How do you decide what blog posts to do next?
E: I used to be a bit intense with planning posts and spreading out my book reviews, book discussions, memes, and all that. But that quickly became too stressful and I wanted to keep this fun. Now I really just go with the flow. I have a running list of topic ideas that I’ll scroll through every now and again when I have time to sit and write, and one will usually jump out at me. Otherwise, I blog when the inspiration hits or when I have recently finished a book.
Do you look at other blogs to get inspiration for the content of your blog?
E: Absolutely! Though I think there is definitely a fine line here between getting inspiration and straying into copying. So I think we all need to be wary there.
Where would you like to see your blog at the end of this year?
E: I know it’s silly to dwell on numbers… But I would really like to see my follower count grow.
If you could meet one author who would it be?
E: Stephen King. Easy! I’m a born and raised Mainer, so I’m a bit embarrassed that I haven’t gotten the opportunity to meet him.
What are your 3 top genres to read?
E: Horror, Thriller, and Mystery.
What book are you most excited about reading next?
E: I picked up Into The Drowning Deep by Mira Grant a few weeks ago and I wanted to dive in immediately. Unfortunately, other things have gotten in the way and I’ve had to push it back. I cannot wait to pick it up!
What is the most recent favourite book you’ve read?
E: Tales of the Lost by Richard Howard! This book of tales absolutely blew me away!
Do you have any hobbies outside of blogging/reading?
E: Photography is definitely my biggest hobby outside of reading.
That is the end of my Q&A with Erica from Erica Robyn Reads. Thank you to Erica for participating in this Q&A. It was very fun to do. Also, check out her blog, it looks amazing.
