I’m here with another Meet the Blogger! Today I will be doing a Q&A with Jade, owner of Bindro’s Bookshelf. So here it is!
Tell us a bit about yourself?
J: I live in Australia with my husband and my two little rescue dogs. I work full time and blog and read books in my free time
How did you get into book blogging?
J: I’m reading all the time and I wanted a place to collect all my thoughts. Also, all my friends kept asking for recommendations on what I read so now I can share with them my reviews
What is your favourite thing about your blog?
J: My favourite thing so far was seeing that someone read one of my reviews and got not only the book I reviewed but the one I also referenced in that review. To see someone like my review and make a reading decision based on that is pretty awesome (and nerve-wracking because what if they don’t like it?)!
Have you been inspired to blog by another blogger and/or Youtuber?
J: I am constantly being inspired by the book community, whether it’s on bookstagram, a book blog, booktube, Litsy, Books amino, etc. Just being around others that love to read and share that excitement makes me want to contribute.
How do you decide what blog posts to do next?
J: I have a weekly tag post a group of bloggers came up with #bookishbloggersunite that we take turns hosting. It’s pretty loose with a different bookish post each week and that goes out on the weekend. Other than that, I’m just trying to stay up to date with my book reviews (and always fall behind). I’m still reviewing my January reads in March!
Do you look at other blogs to get inspiration for the content of your blog?
J: Absolutely, all the time.
Where would you like to see your blog at the end of this year?
J: I would like to see a consistent posting with at least three posts a week if I can, more interaction in the comments and a supportive community that will help support my blog and that I can support them in return.
If you could meet one author who would it be?
J: I have already met some of my favourite authors and to be honest I get really anxious and nervous. However, I still would like to meet J.K. Rowling and Roxane Gay.
What are your 3 top genres to read?
J: Only three?! Ok I can do this: Fantasy, Historical Fiction, General Fiction
What book are you most excited about reading next?
J: I’m pretty excited to read Obsidio but I want to read the first two books in the series again before I do. Also, Children of Blood and Bone looks really good!
What is the most recent favourite book you’ve read?
J: The Break by Katherena Vermette. It deals with the aftermath of a horrific attack on two young teenage girls in the Metis community and is told through female perspectives that interweave the sense of community and people. Also a perspective of a Metis policeman which is a person who is a part of the community but still an outsider looking in at the family tragedy. It’s really heartbreaking but a beautifully written novel addressing the issues that Metis and the native community are still facing to this day.
Do you have any hobbies outside of blogging/reading?
J: Reading and blogging does take up a lot of my time. But I also really love spending time with my dogs. Oh, and spending time with my husband️. I would also like to look at volunteering with animal rescue groups. I adopted my two dogs and seeing the changes with them has been amazing so I would like to pass it forward with others (because if I bring home another dog, I don’t think my husband will be too happy with me, he is already overwhelmed by my large book collection!).
That is the end of my Q&A with Jade from Bindro’s Bookshelf. Thank you to Jade for participating in this Q&A. It was very fun to do. Also, check out her blog, it looks amazing.
