I’m here with another Meet the Blogger! Today I will be doing a Q&A with Rachael, the owner of Beach Bookworm. So here it is!
Tell us a bit about yourself?
R: I’m 25 years old and I live in Florida, which is where I was born and raised. I have been married for three years now and my husband is my best friend. We have a dog, named Frappé, who I have owned since I was in high school. She is my everything! I enjoy reading, riding my bike, walking my dog, kayaking, video games and watching movies/TV shows. I also live only 20 minutes from the beach which is amazing since I absolutely love the beach. I quit my job as a customer service representative for Verizon three years ago and now I travel with my husband, which he does for work. We have gone to Hawaii together for two years now, due to him working there and it’s my favorite place that I have ever been to.
How did you get into book blogging?
R: I have wanted to start a blog for a long time now. When I discovered that book reviews were a thing that I could do, I thought, why not start a blog? At first, I started a bookstagram account and that’s what led me to see others getting arcs and books from publishers and I really wanted to get my thoughts on books out there. So that led to Beach Bookworm.
What is your favourite thing about your blog?
R: Honestly, I love the blogging community. Everyone is always so supportive and nice and it makes me want to keep doing what I’m doing and supporting other bloggers as well.
Have you been inspired to blog by another blogger and/or Youtuber?
R: I don’t think so. Sometimes I get tag ideas from other bloggers and Youtuber’s and I love the way some bloggers pages are set up. I did, however, get inspired to start a bookstagram from other bookstagrammers. There are some really beautiful accounts out there.
How do you decide what blog posts to do next?
R: Every month I make a schedule. Sunday’s I have a Sunday’s with Jesus post that I (try to) do. Tuesday’s I do posts for Top 5 Tuesday with is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm. And I have a TBR list of the books I want to read and I make sure to do reviews on them that same month. The rest of the month I fill in with tags, unboxings, monthly favorites, anticipated releases, etc.
Do you look at other blogs to get inspiration for the content of your blog?
R: I’m always looking at other blogs for ideas but I don’t want to copy their ideas and I’m not as creative as I’d like to be. But I definitely do look at blogs for inspiration.
Where would you like to see your blog at the end of this year?
R: I’d love to see myself come up with more creative posts by the end of the year. I’d also like to see some improvement with my book reviews. I just started writing reviews in August 2017 and I think that I have already been doing better so I know there’s even more room to improve.
If you could meet one author who would it be?
R: I think Marissa Meyer. Obviously, there are a lot of authors I would love to meet but Marissa Meyer’s book Heartless really made my love for books grow tremendously. It’s one of my favorite books of all time and I love her writing style.
What are your 3 top genres to read?
R: Young adult fantasy, adult thrillers and contemporary
What book are you most excited about reading next?
R: I just got sent a copy of Bring Me Back by B.A. Paris. She’s my favorite thriller author and I can’t wait to read her new book.
What is the most recent favourite book you’ve read?
R: Definitely Six of Crows and the Crooked Kingdom. I read the Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo a couple of months ago and I was not impressed. I was nervous about reading her Six of Crows duology but I was blown away. The story and the characters were so good and I highly recommend!
Do you have any hobbies outside of blogging/reading?
R: Yes, I love to ride my bike and walk my dog. I try to exercise as much as I can. I also love seeing movies and watching new TV shows. I’m really in video games as well. Zelda and Animal Crossing are a couple of my favorites.
That is the end of my Q&A with Rachael from Beach Bookworm. Thank you to Rachael for participating in this Q&A. It was very fun to do. Also, check out her blog, it looks amazing.
